About Chris Sanborn

I am a native Vermonter, born and raised right here in Central Vermont.  What can I say, I love it here.  My radio career started when I hit that point in High School when they ask the question "What do you want to do when you leave here?"  My first answer was "I don't know", but I liked music, couldn't sing a decent note and had no idea how to play a single instrument.  With some help from my guidance counselor we came up with the Radio industry.  My Freshman year in College found me at Lydon State College as the last freshman class for their Radio Broadcasting Program.  After a couple of weeks I couldn't believe how much fun the radio industry could be, and they pay you for it. That was it, I was hooked.  By the second year, my class had totally reconstructed our college radio station (The Impulse 91.5) into a station that sounded every bit as good as any of the commercial stations in the North East Kingdom.  Junior year came along and it was time to get that internship somewhere.  Many of my classmates chose the road of intern at the college station, I took a leap and started with a late night radio show on WSKI in Montpelier.  It didn't take long before before I had moved from there to a part time shift here at Frank-FM.  I've done a couple of stints at some other area stations, but I always seem to land back here at Frank-FM.  It's not often you find a job that you enjoy so much that you wonder why they pay you for it.  Frank-FM seems to be it.

How did you end up here?:

This is my hometown, and when you're hometown has such a great radio station there is no reason to go anywhere else.

When did you start your radio carreer and where?

Officially 1994 @ Lyndon State College's 91.5, My first commercial station WSKI in Montpelier.

What would I be doing if I wasn't at Frank-fm ?

As a part time Frank guy, I've got the luxury of both.  I also work for R&L Archery in Barre.  Can you believe I landed two jobs I love.

My Favorite radio story:  I

once hosted the "All Request Topless New Years" radio show.  The listeners that called in that night we absolutly crazy.  It was such a good time.

Hobbies, compulsions or weird habits?

I'm currently engrossed in Geocaching.  It's like a treasure hunt every day.
I'm aslo huge into roadtrips.  I've never moved away from home, but I've been on some amazing roadtrips all around the US.  Only 7 more states until I've driven in them all.

Something you might not know about me:

I am a Volunteer Firefighter for the Barre Town Fire Dept.

The best thing about working for Frank is:

You get to listen to some great music, and I always feel like I've learned a little more about what's going on in the Central Vermont area when I leave the station.
